The GIS France Grilles and GRID’5000, the “Groupe Calcul” and the GDR RSD and the HPC regional centers organizes the “2016” edition of the French speacking SUCCES Days: scientific meeting of grid, cloud, storage  and mesocenters users.

SUCCES Days will take place in November 23-24th at the Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris.

They will be webcasted.

The meeting’s objective is:
– scientific works, in all disciplines, realised with grid, cloud or mesocenters.
– evolution of tools, infrastructures and IT provides opportunities for users with the help of research in computer science.

DIRAC system for EGI communities webinar

Logo EGI.eu

On the 7th of June (next Tuesday) from 3pm Amsterdam time, Andrei Tsaregorodtsev (CNRS) and Victor Mendez (UoBarcelona) will give the next EGI Webinar, titled DIRAC system for EGI communities.

Further information and connection link is available at https://indico.egi.eu/indico/event/2978/
Event abstract:

The DIRAC Project is providing a framework for building distributed computing systems and applications with high computating and storage/data demands. Services based on this framework are available for the EGI users since 2014 (at http://dirac.egi.eu/). during the webinar the main capabilities of the system will be introduced and demonstrated.

The DIRAC4EGI service includes a powerful Workload and Data Management System that is able to handle user payloads running on any EGI grid and cloud resource, as well as on other computing resources (such as institutional clusters). The key capabilities of the system are:

– The DIRAC job scheduler uses the “pilot job” paradigm which ensures high efficiency and fast turn-around of user tasks both on local and on remote computers.
– A versatile File Catalog component keeps track of file locations and replicas and allows the description of data with user defined metadata for efficient data searches.
– Services are accessible with friendly user interfaces: a Web Portal, a rich set of command line tools and a Python API. Through these interfaces the user can ineract with distributed resources as they were a single large computer.
– A RESTful service interface is also available for the use by existing application gateways and portals.

EGI is organising a webinar to introduce the Open Data Platform (ODP), a new solution to manage data in a distributed enviroment currently in prototyping phase.

It has been scheduled for:
Tue 17th of May 15:00 – 16:00 CEST

During the webinar, the ODP architecture will be depicted and its main features introduced.

The webinar will be oriented to communities, that need to manage big datasets in a distributed environement, and resource providers interested on evalute the platform.

GRAphs and datamIning for environmentaL research – Data, Research questions and New hypotheses-IndexMed 2016

Indexmed-2016

IndexMed 2016 will be held from 6 to 8 June 2016 at the Faculté Saint
Charles (Marseille) for a day of plenary sessions and at CESAB
(Aix-en-Provence) for two days of practical workshop.

Following the successful workshops (2014 and 2015), this 3rd seminar
will highlight the contribution of recent developments in data-mining
using graphs approach for environmental research questions and new
hypotheses. It will promote exchanges between participants, the
acquisition of practical methods and will explore new ways to organize
data.

The aims, after sharing scientific evidences and confronting
experiences, are to develop collaborations using on graph approaches and
new researches around the Mediterranean Sea and across Europe, and to
respond to a European H2020 Call next year.

The 3-days program will be extensive, including 3 plenary sessions with
keynote speakers, social events, a posters session and a 2-days
workshop, during which participants will build their first data graphs
with their own datasets and learn how to generate metadata and to write
data papers.

THE 2016 INDEXMED SEMINAR WELCOMES ABSTRACTS FOR ORIGINAL ORAL
CONTRIBUTION AND POSTERS UNTIL MAY 15TH 2016. REGISTRATION IS FREE AND
OPEN FOR EVERY RESEARCHER. PHD AND MASTER STUDENTS ARE WELCOME!
