EGI is a collaboration between the National Grid Infrastructures (NGI) and the European research laboratories, coordinated by, a non-profit organization based in Amsterdam.

Resources are provided by over 350 resource centers, distributed across 56 countries. They provide an integrated grid infrastructure, securd and reliable which supplies European researchers with the computational resources they need. The grid is based on open-source, standards compliant software.
